In “Throw the bums out” by John Derbyshire, homeless
people had invaded a new library and there wasn’t much that could be done about
it. The matter of fact was that government money was being put to support
homeless people. Therefore the population of homeless people did not decrease
but actually increase for having at-ease facilities provided by government,
instead of getting a job and a home. While in “The meanest cities” by America,
it talks about homeless people being targeted if seen in public as a crime. The
article talks about how this criminal record would make it impossible for
homeless people to find a job. In “Brother, don’t spare a dime” it brings both
sides into view with the harsh reality put into retrospect, how helping
homeless people who do not want to better themselves literally destroys the
chances for others who are “temporarily homeless.” Basically the vast majority
of homeless people want to live like that because it is far easier for them, while
there are programs that do help people who are temporarily homeless to get back
on their feet.
